The 2027 Kia Seltos is a full redesign, not a refresh, and the changes reach well past a new grille. Kia rebuilt the subcompact SUV on a new platform, added a third powertrain, and reworked the cabin from the dash to the cargo floor.
Before Ontario shoppers start weighing LX against X-Line, here are five updates worth understanding first.
The redesigned Seltos drops the old single-engine setup for three distinct choices. The base engine is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder paired with Kia’s Intelligent Variable Transmission and front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available on select trims.
Step up to the 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and output climbs to 190 horsepower, sent through an 8-speed automatic transmission paired with all-wheel drive. New for this generation is a hybrid: a 1.6-litre four-cylinder hybrid engine paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. It starts front-wheel drive, with an available e-AWD system that Kia points to as a first for one of its hybrid SUVs.
The new Seltos rides on a wheelbase stretched by 60 mm, and that extra length shows up directly in cabin space. Rear legroom grows by 25 mm, and overall headroom increases by the same amount.
Cargo space grows too. Kia lists 1,817 litres behind the front row and 786 litres behind the second row, plus a two-step foldable luggage board on select models for better organization.
The boxier, upright profile carries flush door handles and a squared-off stance that reads more substantial than the outgoing Seltos. Two new colours, Terrain Brown and Frost Blue, join the palette.
The Seltos now comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch instrument display running Kia’s ccNC infotainment software, which supports over-the-air updates. A 5-inch climate control display is available for buyers who want a dedicated panel for temperature.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across every trim, so pairing a phone does not need a cable or an upgrade. Four USB-C ports spread across both rows keep devices charged front and back, and Kia Connect is available for owners who want remote vehicle features.
Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning and Parking Distance Warning for both front and reverse are standard on the new Seltos, features that used to sit further up the price ladder in this segment. Buyers can also add a 3D Surround-View Monitor and Kia’s Blind-Spot View Monitor, which shows a live video feed of the blind spot on the digital display when the turn signal is used.

The 2.0-litre and 1.6-litre turbo versions are heading to Ontario dealerships first, giving shoppers two gas-powered options to start comparing right away. The hybrid, with its e-AWD option, joins the lineup afterward, once Kia finalizes its fuel economy figures and remaining details.
Because the hybrid’s numbers are not locked in yet, official fuel economy ratings for all three powertrains, along with hybrid details, will follow closer to its on-sale date. That timing does not affect the 2.0-litre or 1.6-litre models, which lead the new Seltos into the segment.
Kia carries over the normally aspirated 2.0-litre and turbocharged 1.6-litre engines from the previous Seltos, so buyers who liked how either one drove will find a familiar feel under the new sheet metal. The Seltos also keeps its five-passenger, two-row layout and its place as a subcompact SUV built for daily driving.
Picking a powertrain comes down to how you drive. The 2.0-litre suits buyers who want a straightforward daily commuter, the 1.6-litre turbo rewards those who want more passing power along with all-wheel drive, and the hybrid will appeal to drivers chasing efficiency without giving up an all-wheel option.
Trim level matters too. X-Line and X-Line Limited add SynTex upholstery with standard four-way lumbar support, and the X-Line Limited steps up further with front Relaxation Seats, features that set the top of the lineup apart from the LX, EX, and EX Premium.
The 2027 Seltos brings a larger cabin, three distinct powertrains, and a longer list of standard safety tech to the subcompact SUV segment, giving shoppers more ways to match the SUV to how they actually drive.
